As you are keeping track of the news in your country, here is one story that is having a large impact across the globe. A significant rise in the cost of food has put pressure on programs such as the World Food Program (WFP) to deliver food aid and on countries to provide enough food for their citizens. The Philippines is also feeling the effects of the crisis and are going to distribute rice access cards to allow access to government subsidized rice.

After a second week of blogging, many of your sites are starting to come together. Several students have discovered how to download widgets from the internet making for some interesting home pages. Congratulations to the authors of the blogs of the week:

China – This group has chosen a nice simple theme that is easily customizable. Pages are accessible at the top of the page and there is even a congratulatory message from the President. For more information on the Voki widget, click here.

Pakistan – Another simple theme, the group has created a great Header image for the blog. Information is easy to find and the article summaries are well written.
